continued...

So last week...lets see, we did so much I wont be able to elaborate on everything, but it was a darn good amount of fun. The day we got there, Friday evening, we were all instantly able to become friends, and just clang to each other like a mosquito to fresh blood (speaking of which I was attacked by in bed the last few nights and now how 16, yes, I counted, 16 bug bites on my FACE i look like I have chicken pox). We stayed up, all in the same room at the hostel (and youth hostels are officially the coolest places ever), just talking, etc. Went to bed relatively early that night, midnight. The next day we walked all day long, and I took a large amount of photos, as did every day. The weather was premium and the sun was shining. We had some Black Forest caked at a little retaurant out in the middle of the forest...and man did it have a lot of alcohol in it. I knew that cake did have alcohol, but this was more like schnopps cake...and not too sweet. Interesting though lol. That evening we ate at the hostel and a group of us stayed up until 4 am or so. Ah it was a lot of fun. My crazy side was able to be released, as it has been locked up for so long!! Sunday was sehr fun...we actually went on some steep hills so that was nice, to get some better exercise. Took even more photos, and even better ones, and got to know everyone even better. Ate at a restaurant that afternoon and had my first eiscafe, mmmmm (cold coffee with vanilla ice cream in it YUM). Stayed up pretty late that night too, and had a ''disco'' in the music/chill room with insulated walls. Loud music and a hilarious kid from Oklahoma doing weird dance moves, reminding me distinctly of Napolean Dynamite, and for once it wasnt annoying. Monday we did another long day of hiking, this time with the Rotary district 1930 chairman, and the 1930 youth exchange chairman. Odin (Canada), Matt (Tennessee) and I talked to them, in German too! That was fun- got caught behind a lot though taking pictures. Ate at another restaurant, sorta. We cooked our own meat..hehe it was cool tho beecause it was old style ...and we had arm wrestling tournaments on the thick wooden tables. That night we all went out into Triberg and checked out the pretty town...very pretty, thats for sure. Right in a valley. Next day we went to a city and toured a light and luminere manufacturing company (random) and then to a bazaar museum for life size carnival dolls typical for different regions of southern germany. Then we did a little shopping and walked around Schwenningen. Stayed up until 4am that night. The last day we went to the city of Rottweil and had a tour of the city (where rottweillers, the dogs, come from). I liked that. Then we went to this huge swimming spa complex and that was pretty fun. Lots of old men in sehr klein (very small) speedos hehe. We ate out that afternoon too and then that evening had a rotary meeting, about 20 Rotarians came to the hostel. We each went and spoke in front of them all and said what we could...for about a minute or so. And then sang our national anthem...I really gives kudos to those other than the Canadians and Americans who had to do it by themselves. That night 5 of us tried pulling all nighters...I was only one who didnt fully succeed. I was flopping all over the place I was so tired, eheh. And then Thursday we all departed and that was sad, but its ok, because that was only the first of our gatherings.

Yesterday I finally got to go to one of our soccer games, and get this, I started! BooYA! I was surprised. And Id say thats the highlight of things. I am currently making a pair of pants too. SO I guess that's all. I hope you are happy, Mom and Pop, that I wrote. :)

Hey Kar-reeeeee

Well, if you let go your "crazy" side, I guess then they knew your not mean!!! But I think I understand what your saying, being able to communicate and be understood with fellow americans...language and culture. I know when I have traveled what a wonderful feeling it was to run into other Americanos and just know instantly, they understand!! Way cool.

I have been running crazy today. I just ordered Uncle Paul a new expensive digital camera. This one is just like a regular 35 mm SLR film camera but it is digital. No film. He will be albe to change lenses and everything. This digital SLR's as they are called, take pictures as fast as a film camera, no lag time. He is gearing up for the African safari him and CD will take when they get to Kenya.
I will mention to UP and CD to look for weapons for the hunters in the family.
We now have enought muscial instruments here for our own authentic african band!! Probably enought o make Blaines world music teacher crazy. Blaine, I really like world music, got lots of CD's if you ever need some.

Weather got cold over night here, it was in the 50's last night. We also had some strong winds, one of my new palm trees is leaning over pretty good!! Gotta get that fixed.

I am starved. off to make some lunch!!

Kari, I've been outed by Kathy. Andy really enjoyed the coffee in Berlin, too. If you ever get a chance to get to Berlin, take it. I've even got pictures of Andy dancing in the streets of Berlin. Crazy, huh? I really enjoy reading of your adventures in Germany. Keep your postings coming. Also enjoy the responses from all your friends and family. Your dad is a "hoot." Take care,Terese

i think i'm the youngest one to write on here. and the only cousin (because i'm basically the best cousin you'll ever have, haha). crazy. and if uncle troy joins the Frontiersmen Club i'm going to laugh for a long long time.

gah, i'm so jealous. and not just because you're in germany and got to tour the black forest (although thast's part of it). i'm jealous cause you've let out the Crazy Insano Kari, which means although i've lived in texas longer than you have in germany, you're farther along than i am. i'm so normal and boring at school, it's ridiculous. every once and awhile i'll get a little quirky at lunch or during chem, but usaully its just Boring ole mel. melrooski needs to escape and stretch her legs.

on a completey nonrelated topic, i talked to a cute guy in my chem class today. about the armenian genocide. it was a pretty short conversation, but it was good (sigh... those lanky boys). so that was fun. enjoyable. you'll have to email me picturess of every cute german boy you see.

ok, you don't have to. please? and you should probably send them to tori and rae too. i'm sure it'd be appreciated.

reading about the black forset makes me want to go to yosemite again, with all those kids. sigh... i guess i'll just have to wait until brazi - i bet they'd take me to the Amazon jungle at least once - that'd be soo incredible! can you imagine?!?!? the freakin amazon, kari, the amazon!!! i could probably wrangle meself a jaguar and ride it to school. hehe. or maybe a brazilian tapir. or an ocelot. hmmm.... my ocelot and i would go party in Rio... what fun.

ok, i'm going to go avoid my homework for a bit and play with this neat banjo-y harp-ish guitar-like instrument thing my dad brought home from the Gambia. it'll be fun!!

i love you muchas muchas!!

What's wrong with the Frontiersman club? Have you seen their cool Tee shirts? Of course you havent...you're a TEXAN, and not privy to latest in outdoor fashion attire.

Yeah Aunt Kathy your probably right... my teacher would go crazy with them.. although he has just about all the african instuments he could ever want. he has spent several years living with different african cultures and bought instruments there.. and also inherited a bunch from a teacher who used to teach at humboldt but died and his wife gave my teacher the instuments... Melarooski that banjo-y harp-ish guitar-like instrument thing is a KORA most likely if it has 21 strings or..... a kontigo which only has 5 strings. Send me a digital picture to my email!!and it comes from the Mande culture in africa u should tell uncle paul to buy a Balafon those are sweet.. they are like a curved xylaphone with gourds on the bottom facing up that amplify the sound they are sweet... How long of a safari is uncle paul and caitlin going on??? that would be sooo much fun.. PS Kari I caught another sweet wave... and met a cool surfer too we talked alot and then a huge set of waves came and washed back to shore and we were done...

I dont know if I appreciate the disrespect brought to the frontiersmen club melarooroodoody. 2 shirts will be on the way sir, they're on backorder due to very high demand, but we should have some in the next couple of weeks, 12 dollars buys a shirt and membership. Here's a link to a picture of what the shirt looks like http://www.geocities.com/mafialuge/frontback.jpg
Kari even though I already talked to you about your trip, I would like to say I am glad you are having so much fun, and its too bad you cant come with the Frontiersmen this weekend to the Trinity's, and Im gonna send you a shirt from the next batch, Do you want it in green? because i think we might get assorted colors this time if it isnt gonna cost us extra.

Damn dirty dispespectful TEXANS anyway...

You'll beg for a Frotniersman Club Tee shirt when you see it, and be sorry you dis'd your Uncle Troy as well. You should be ashamed of your self little Miss Mallorousketti spegetti.

But since I'm such a nice uncle, I'll let you wear mine, should you ever be allowed back into the Golden State. Maybe Joe will even let you join the club...of course after the backgroung check and initiation procedure. How's your survival skills? Ever eat a pine tree?...Many parts are edible.

i didn't mean anything by the fronteirsmen club comment, uncle troy. i just had the idea that it was a club at the school. and you're not exactly a highschool student. you don't have any children in highschool (or at least not in california). but don't call me dirty texan!!!!

i didn't want to move here and i didn't have a choice. my mom
's the dirty texan not me. i'm a very sad relocated californian.

and baline, yes, it is a kora (i looked it up on the net) and we have a big fat bafalon. but it's on the ship. we've got a little one footer at hopme and the five foot one witht hese huge gourds hanging off the bottom on the ship. we should get it home in january with my dad.

i gotta go to class now.

I would just have to tell you that I was surfing and then you would have to beleive that one of those little long skinny black specks was me... If that web site doesent work go to http://members.cox.net/surfcam/surfcam.htm and that webcam moves every so often.. You can even see camel rock its the huge one with two humps for the slow people out there. Dont if you look in the early morning here it will be fog most of the time except for today in which its freaking awesome and I want to be out there but Im going to BOTANY!!

Hi Kari and various others,

Okay, I will take the rap...I am the dirty Texan!! Yahoo...GO ASTROS!!!

Does living here 3 months make me a full or partial Texan??? Oh, I am now a paid member of the "Houston Livestock and Rodeo Show" too!! I am hoping to work the junior live stock show w/sheep of course!!

Okay, I checked out this Frontiersman shirt. I hope that isn't "bigfoot" on the back side??? Troy, you will like 20 yrs younger in that shirt!! It looks like one of those anti-age shirts!!

Wilson is becoming a water tolerant dog now!! Since she doens't have anything real to hunt (unless you count the food in the pantry she has discovered) she hunts and attacks water droplets. She is possessed by the water splashes. So much now, that she actually uses her paws to kick up water and bites at the water!! It is a crack up to watch. We have a large, wide top step in the pool. She marches around on it, kicking and biting the water!!

Kari, didn't I say your blog is the catalyst of this family!! We are all interacting and you get to enjoy all of our antics!!! Ahhhhh....

Nothing else exciting here in TEJAS...just dentist appts. Mel is getting her crown this afternoon. Korinn has to get her braces fixed, some wires broke.

Hope your having a good day, Kari. Any new info on the "international school"???

adios!

Aunt Kathy wilson sounds like she is beginning to act like Daisy my friend Codeys dog... one of Ozzys progeny who absolutley loves the water.. she will jump off moving boats to try and get in, its a crazy little varmit.

Restatement: Daisy is one of Ozzyz progeny not Codey.

WOW! 19 messages! Now who else is out there secretly lurking and reading and never posting? You better speak up and do a quick check in to let Kari know you are reading or Kari might leave us all in her past......boo hoo.

Hey Kari Bone--does Joe need a chsaperone tot he Trinities? I think El Popasaurus would be s shoe-in for that job. He loves the Trinities and he really loves teenagers. He could take along all the Hank Bone, Sadie Bone and the Snappers too.

Wow this blog is really something. I am bummed I have no wit to add. I am at...are you guessing school? Right....on my way home..I love you Mom

Anonymous said...

Anonymous....Boo frickity Hoo is right! She's already left us and is off cooking pies for some foriegn family who probably doesnt read her blog even!

Melarooski...I thought if you moved to Texas you'd get a cowboy hat and some boots, but your mom says you're getting a crown! That is neat. Will you wear it to school?

Joe...You're on to something with that shirt. If it's not someone else's copyrighted works or whatever, you need to copyright it yourself. You could make some extra cash...for the Frontiersmen club of course.

Kari... Have you decided to change schools? I think I would. If you're really stressed about it, maybe you should try some Rhodiola Rosea.
BTW...Slo-Zoe's joined the pack and is now an official falconry dog having flushed her first jack rabbit...which Dargo promptly caught...and I promptly released. Pop

Im going to go fly fish the mad river on friday since class is cancelled and probably wont catch anything because the river isnt flowing real good yet but oh well If I do I will be stoked! Now write something already!

Dear Kari
I'm bored, so I'll write. Why don't you write? You need to write so others may comment. Remember...it's your blog.

It's funny, I hear others talking about ALL THE LURKERS on this blog. There's even some where I work! Too bad they don't speak up and risk embarasment on here like the rest of us. Damn dirty lurkers...

Lurkers...sounds kind of KreepY don't it? Of course if they'd just drop a one liner every now and again, that could relieve them of any negative conotation associated with their PEROCCUPATION WITH LURKING.

Mind you, I'm not trying to scare them off...just entice them to make the first step. Ooo...that sounds a little kreepy also. Oh Yeah! I forgot...it's almopst halloween! No wonder everything sounds so kreepy.

Speaking of hallloween Kari. Mom and I got invited to one of Little Jeffies halloween parties. I said we'd go, but I didn't know costumes were mandatory. Then I didn't really want to...you know, cause I'm so inhibited round your mom (and visa veasa). So now I'm at a quandry. I know what I want to be, but you're not here to make my costume...and I would have $$$PAID YOU DEARLY$$$. Your mom won't make it either and I don't have the time now that I'm flying 2 hawks.

You'll never guess what I want to be!.....no,no, not a falconer.........ok, ok, I can't stand it! I want to be MAX!...You know... MAX...from WHERE THE WILD THINGS ARE! Cool Hu. And on my back I want to write the first sentense of the book...
"The Night Max Wore His Wolf Suit...And Created Mischief Of One Kind....And Another........

Perfect eh? Too bad you're not here. I figure the suit would be just like in the book...a full cover jumpsuit, grayish brown...zip up in the front..with feet and I think fingers too. Maybe even claws, and oh yea...a hood with wolf ears...and a real pin-on tail. I could use a coyote tail, cause I got one in the garage. I could paint on wiskers. Damit you! You've ruint my halloween! And I could have had so much fun :,) Oh well...I guess I'll just dress like I always do...like an Oakie.

Your mom is going as a Just Say No advisor. I think that's pretty funny considering the crowd we'll be around.

I flew Shelia today at the school. She flew 150 feet on the creance several times. Even with a tractor in the background for distraction. Shelia is my new redtail if you don't remember. I've had her 2 weeks. I plan on taking her to Christmas Valley OR in a week or 2 if I can get away from my wretched job (which is changing by the way...they're making me into a giant chair mounted hemoroid). Anyway...she's doing great and should be catching rabbits soon. Dargo's slamming jacks left and right. I've been releasing most of them...you know...catch and release. Pretty cool really. I think I should start tagging the rabbits, that way I'd know if I ever catch them again. Really, it doesn't matter. I chould just let him eat them all cause the developers are nibbling away at all the good rabbit habitat, so what's the point if there's not going to be any place for them to live. Better reason to move to Christmas Valley.

You'd hate it there. It's all sagebrush, nothing but sagebruch and dirt. Hardly any people at all. It's perfect.

Anyway, I think it's time for my nightly bowl of double buttered popcorn. You know, now that falconry season's in full swing, I can metabolize a full bowl a day with no adverse affects...that I can see anyway.

Love you Kari

and Joe...I really do want 2 shirts. 1 large and one medium.

and Melabobodinoruski...the wild teenager trapped in a boreing, inhibited, new girl's body(sorry, you've got the sickness as well..I know the feeling),... how did the crown go over at school?

and Blaino...Mom's being forced to watch 40 hours of multiculturalsensitivity training on tape...AT HOME! It's really boreing and annoying. Anyway...they just played a really cool instrument called a "bandura" from the ucraine. It has 65 strings and makes an unbeliveable amount of sounds. Pretty cool...being you're into that sort of thing living over there in Arcata with all the hippies and such. Be careful surfing.

and Auntie Kathy...It is all your fault. But that's ok. My kids probably won't want to visit me in Xmas Valley either.

Ok..I gotta get out of the room...they're singing in traditional Ucraine now on moms tape.

Love you, Pop
ps...if ornly I could spell...

The Frontiersmen club has really taken off, we're out of shirts but nobody worry, were having more made so if you want one better reserve it now. even all the basketball player dudes at school are into it, for those that dont know these guys, they are really into the cool basketball apparel and what not. and one of em has become obsessed with bigfoot. which is cool i guess. I do admit I have been a lurker. Communicating with Kari mainly through e-mail, but this way everyone else can read what i have to say and know im not some boring lame o'
